The 11th hole at Turnberry is patterned after one of the world’s most famous par-3 concepts – the Redan. Borrowed from a military term that means “guarding parapet,” the world’s most famous Redan can be found at
Turnberry’s Redan requires a long iron or hybrid tee shot that must carry a bunker short of the green that appears closer to the putting surface than it actually is. “There is space between the bunker and green,” Tyers adds, noting the green runs down to a large hollow. “Recovering from missing the green isn’t going to be easy,” Tyers explains.
From there shots hit to the right of the green will pitch onto the putting surface and drift to the back right.
