A par-4 set between what appears to be two large, grass-covered dunes, this hole provides golfers with a sense of the challenge that it about to reveal itself. Golfers that arrive at Turnberry and are expecting a short course, may be surprised by this opener, which is anything but a pushover at 433 yards.
“This is a tasty par-4,” says Tyers. “It plays down between two large dune-like creations to an uphill green framed with some bunkers. We set it up so the golfer understands the line the golfer has to take. It is a good start that gets players going.”
Golfers must hit a strong draw off the right fairway bunker to open up the approach to the green, which is slightly raised.
